Teach self reflection with a glow and grow strategy. Here is a teaching strategy using highlighters to teach students how to have better self reflection. Teaching students to identify the strengths and weaknesses in their own work will help them to improve their work quality and help diminish repeated errors over time.
Glow and Grow Teaching Strategy for Self Reflection
Students take both a yellow and a green highlighter to their completed work. They highlight the strengths and their weakness areas compared to the assignment rubric. Add to this self reflection component by having students explain their marks. As students repeatedly assess their own work, they will begin to do this as they work, improving their work quality and reducing repeated errors.
