I have a great activity for your little ones on my HeidiSongs Resource blog this week, especially if they like Pete the Cat!
It’s a matching sets activity in which you put the correct amount of buttons on Pete’s shirt, according to the number that is written on the paper.
I think it is extra fun because the buttons stay on with VELCRO! Don’t your students just LOVE Velcro????
All it takes is the printable counting mats featuring that happy cat Pete laminated with strips of Velcro as shown.
Add some Velcro to the back of your stash of big, bright buttons and you’re all set to go. This makes a great morning activity or even beginning math center activity for kindergarten.

Heidi Butkus - HeidiSongs
Heidi is a credentialed teacher with 25+ years experience, a Reading Specialist, author, songwriter, and staff development trainer. After years of developing her own curricular materials, her peers urged her to share her methods with other teachers, and to present at the California Kindergarten Conference. The response was overwhelming and encouraged Heidi to publish her first music CD! She has since grown this basic curriculum into the ‘HeidiSongs’ product line and website, which now includes DVD’s, books, and many other teaching resources! As the popularity of her program has grown, she has also developed teacher training programs and presented educational keynotes nationwide.
