Work on sight words this Christmas in kindergarten with this free sight words battleship game. Created for kindergarten – but totally usable in first or second grade too – this editable set of four battleship-style playing boards is just right for practicing reading sight words in the early elementary grades.
Students play in pairs and try to guess where their opponent has placed their presents.
Since this is a Christmas themed game, playing pieces aren’t battleships, they are dropped presents lost along Santa’s route.
Plug in the sight words (high frequency words) that you want your students to read using Google Slides or Microsoft PowerPoint. Print the game boards and pick what playing pieces you want to use for the presents. Then partner up students and you’re set to go!
