Create a fractional flower with first graders. Here is a craft project involving fractions for first grade. This flower is created with colorful squares, making the prep work simple and the product interesting. Students will create a geometric fractional flower and label the fractional parts using fill in the blank sentences.
Fractional Flower Math Craft
Cut out lots of squares from construction paper in a variety of 5 colors. Have students select 20 pieces of paper and build their flower using all 20 pieces. Students will glue the flower parts onto a large construction paper background and add their fraction sentences at the bottom. This math craft includes a free download for the sentence strip.
