Multiplication Word Problems – Sticky Note Style

Take students into deeper level thinking with Common Core multiplication word problems by having them write their own. Here’s how to have students create their own multiplication word problems for math practice. Math practice for third grade will be differentiated and allow students to dig deep when you work through misconceptions as students create their own examples using sticky notes.

Common Core Multiplication Math Practice

Have students who show a good understanding of how to solve multiplication problems and word problems dive into this activity. Hang up four pieces of chart paper with 4 multiplication fact on the top of each. Have students write a word problem onto a sticky note and stick it onto the chart for the fact it relates to. Work through the chart examples as a class, helping clear up misconceptions and revising the story problems.
