In my kindergarten classroom, I use “Pick Me!” sticks when I want to randomly call on students. I don’t know about you, but I’m easily distracted by the same couple of littles who always want to answer/do EVERYTHING! Their hands are up, waving around, and they’re making those “oooh oooh ooooh” noises! To help make sure that everyone gets a turn, I made these “Pick Me!” sticks for my classroom.
All you need is a smallish plastic jar with a lid (think peanut butter), some craft sticks, and the free template that I made. These simple sticks have made it so easy to pick students when I want to do it randomly. I use them for increased participation in discussions, to pick helpers, and even to assign random partners (just pick two sticks at a time!) And the little jar is a cute addition to my classroom, as well. 🙂

I've been blessed to be a kindergarten teacher for 17 years, and I love everything that comes along with it, especially creating things for my littles to use in the classroom. When I'm not doing "teacher things", I enjoy reading, camping with my family in our little pop-up, singing, and doing all things crafty. My husband, four children, and I reside in Indianapolis, IN.
